To UNSUBSCRIBE substitute the word "unsubscribe" for "subscribe" in the example above. You can also send other commands to the listproc. To see a more detailed listing of commands, send an e-mail message to listproc@ucdavis.edu with "help" in the message text.
DO NOT unsubscribe yourself to the Chorus email list if you are currently a member of the University Chorus.
SPAM AT UCD
As you might be well aware, the UC Davis email systems continue to suffer attacks from spammers who send virus-infected attachments. UCD estimates that 40% of email messages processed through UCD are spam. That's 57 million messages per year. Spammers frequently forge the name(s) of the senders, so you may receive messages that appear to have been sent by me, or a TA, or some other trusted source. The infected messages are not sent from infected machines. We are working hard to find solutions to the problem. Unfortunately, class email lists are a necessary means to communicate important information.
For now, we will adopt this policy: WE WILL NEVER SEND ANY ATTACHMENTS WITH OUR MESSAGES. So, if you receive a message with an attachment from a list to which you have subscribed, you can assume that it is spam and may contain a virus. If it is necessary for us to direct you to a file, we will include a link to an html version of the information. You will know that the link is authentic if it points to a file within a UCD domain; for example: http://chorus.ucdavis.edu/currentinfo.htm. |
